President’s Message – January 2014

Hello Members,

I would like to wish The Corvette Club of Rhode Island a Happy 50th Birthday. It is time to reflect on how fortunate we are to be part of this club on its Golden Anniversary. With that being said, this year will be like no other as we celebrate all year long! I would like to thank the late Charlie Harris for having the desire and passion to start a Sports Car Club. I would also like to thank Richard Nelson and all of the members that came before us; they had the foresight to develop what we all know as “The Corvette Club of Rhode Island”…….we thank you all!!!

I would like to wish all of our members a Happy and Healthy New Year. I always think of January as a time for resolutions and a time to help others that are not as fortunate as us, that is what life is all about, helping each other.

Well, our Christmas Party was a blast again this year, Thank You Kay. The food was delicious and the band kept us rocking all night long. The Ice Cream Sunday Bar was a great idea. With most of our members there it made for an awesome evening.

We now have a new web site that was built for us by Chris Harrington Interactive and I would like to give Chris a huge thank you for all of his time that he donated to us. Again this is an example of giving back to the community by helping a nonprofit club. There will be a lot more content going forward but we wanted to launch this at the Christmas party. I would also like to thank my website team; Dennis Langlois, Richard Nelson and Keith Mutter for giving up their time and efforts to help Chris move this new site to reality. I hope everyone loves it.

I would like to thank all our past elected and appointed officials for their help to this club. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your President of this wonderful club. I pledge to do what is best for the membership; this has always been my goal. As I reflect back to three years ago when I was first elected, I am very pleased to say that this club is better and stronger now. I thank the membership for helping me make this happen. Most of the gray areas in our Bi-Laws have been rewritten so they are clear & precise and will continue to do so as situations change with the help of our new By-Laws Director Maria Duquette. Let’s not forget that our show Corvettes by the Sea was the best attended show on the circuit this year with 198 cars on a rain date.

On that note, I will see all of you at our next meeting.

P.S. All you sissies please come down and support the Penguin Plunger, 1-1-2014, 11:30 a.m. at Roger Wheeler State Beach.
